New Home Care Packages Program
The Department of Health and Ageing has just (literally) released our results in the 2012-13 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR).
I am very please to announce that Care Assess has been allocated 52 packages in total, with the following break down:
| Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | TOTAL | |
| South | 8 | 6 | 3 | 3 | 20 |
| North | 4 | 6 | 4 | 0 | 14 |
| North West | 5 | 5 | 4 | 4 | 18 |
| TOTAL | 17 | 17 | 11 | 7 | 52 |
The 2012-13 ACAR was a competitive assessment process that allocates aged care places to those applicants who best demonstrate they can meet the needs of the ageing population within a specified aged care planning region. Decisions on the allocation of new aged care places are made independently by the Department of Health and Ageing.
This new program for Care Assess will be part of a new type of care that the Commonwealth is establishing, Home Care, and the introduction of two new levels of Home Care packages from 1 August 2013, with all new Home Care Packages offered on a Consumer Directed Care basis.
It goes with out saying that I/we are absolutely thrilled and very much looking forward to carefully planning and implementing these exciting new services that are so needed across Tasmania by many in the community.
This is a big (relatively) new world of the Home Care Packages Program for us, including Consumer Directed Care; we have of course a lot of work to do now, and so much to learn as we do it.
One thing for sure, throughout this whole process (and it will be a process!) we want to ensure that quality care for clients is of central and utmost importance to us in our delivery of care.
