More Home Care Packages (ACAR 2014)

Care Assess has more Home Care Packages as a result of a successful allocation of places from the Aged Care Allocations Round in 2014 (ACAR 2014)!

In Southern Tasmania Care Assess has ten more Home Care Level 2 places immediately available and two more Home Care Level 3 places; in addition Care Assess has three more Home Care Level 2 places in North Western Tasmania immediately available.

This brings the total number of home aged care package places for our organisation to 70 Home Care Packages!

We are all very grateful and wish to thank the Department of Social Services for these allocations. It is both a privilege and an honour.

Well done to everyone – that is yet another good outcome.

While we might have wished for a larger allocation, this number is very much in line with standard departmental practice. It is very unusual to allocate a large number to one provider – usually only to ensure viability of an organisation new to the program.

Standard procedure has been to allocate a lump of care packages to a new organisation over one or two Rounds, in order to quickly achieve stand-alone financial viability for that specific program. Once that is achieved additional packages are usually drip-fed in smaller numbers.

Care Assess is confident that receipt of 15 packages is not a reflection on the quality of our application, but rather the Department’s desire to spread the resources around service providers. We may well have written the stand-out best application but still received 15 packages.

So we’re taking this outcome as a vote of confidence from the Department that Care Assess is a “preferred” provider in Tasmania.
